Furneaux Lodge – Punga Cove
Follow the scenic Queen Charlotte Track as it meanders around the coastline of beautiful Endeavour Inlet to our sister resort at Punga Cove. Without any challenging climbs, this section of the track is easy going, and all about enjoying the beautiful bush-clad coastline, regenerating forest, the birds, trickling streams and the sparkling sea.
Either stay for lunch or a cold drink at Punga Cove’s Boatshed Cafe and Bar on the jetty and walk back, or ask us to arrange a water taxi to pick you up and bring you back to Furneaux. Another option is to catch the Cougar Line in the morning to Punga Cove, have lunch and walk back to Furneaux in the afternoon.
Furneaux Lodge - Resolution Bay - Ship Cove/Meretoto
From lush bush and beech forest alongside coastline, Resolution Bay, beautiful views of outer Queen Charlotte Sound/Tōtaranui and the historically significant Ship Cove/Meretoto, this section of the track has arguably the most variety in one day of the whole route.
The official start of the track, Ship Cove/Meretoto is a chance to learn about the long Māori history in this area and the landing of Captain James Cook on the Endeavour. Read the interpretive panels, stroll to the waterfall or enjoy a picnic before carrying on towards Furneaux Lodge.
